All You Need is Love

It's almost Valentine's Day! In celebration of the occasion, Rachel of Hello Chelly & I are bringing back All You Need Is Love. Last year, we shared our favorite quotes, couples and songs - all inspired by love, of course. This year, we're changing up a few of these categories. Check out my favorite first kisses, romance films and more love songs that I love. Don't forget to pop on over to Rachel's post when you've finished reading mine!

One of my favorite moments in any romance I read about is the first kiss. There's something magical about that moment where these two souls finally connect on such a physical (and emotional) level, and I'm always excited to witness it happen. While I tried really hard not to repeat my answers for this section, I just had to do it for one, as you're going to see shortly. (But really, how can you deny me my choice for favorite first kiss?)

TV: Lee Shin & Chae Kyung in Princess Hours • Fun fact: I went through a phase where all I ever watched were Korean TV shows. (I kind of miss them. Any recommendations?) One of my all-time favorites (and I've seen it a lot) is Princess Hours. It's set in an alternate 21st century where Korea still had a monarchy, and Crown Prince Lee Shin finds himself needing a wife (and future queen) so that he can ascend the throne if his father (who is gravely ill) dies. He winds up betrothed to a commoner named Chae, who he initially has no feelings for. And you can see where that is going to go, can't you? Let's just say there are plenty of shenanigans involved. But oh my goodness, their first kiss is lovely. I just felt all the swoons, particularly because the build-up to it took a long, long time.

Book: Ana & Sam in Incarnate • These two are one of my favorite book couples ever (and I'm sure many of you know that, considering how much I love this series and talk about it). Their first kiss is beautiful, and it gives me shivers every single time I read that moment. (Here's my review!)

He'd felt right. I knew who I needed him to be, even if the way we'd danced was not how- That kind of passion he reserved for music. Not me.
A cold breeze made me shiver as I tightened my grip on his. Stepped closer. Searched his eyes.
His lips tilted up at once corner, like amusement. I'd known, but still, the familiar expression stunned me so much I almost didn't act.
I kissed him.
Rather, I pressed my mouth against his and hoped he wouldn't run. It would probably kill me.
Three long seconds and he only gasped and tightened his hands on my back. Then, with a soft moan, he opened his mouth and kissed me. It wasn't an easy, sweet kiss like I'd imagined my first would be, but frustrated and hungry. That was good, better than easy and sweet, because after everything, I was frustrated and hungry for him, too.

Movie: Landon Carter & Jamie Sullivan in A Walk to Remember • Honestly, just thinking about this film makes me emotional. I've seen it so many times, and I still love it. The tenderness, the growth, the love story - it's all so wonderful. I'm a little obsessed with their love story, and I love their first kiss on Jamie's front porch.

I'm a total sap, and I love love stories. Romantic comedies are my jam, in particular, and it's not surprising that the three films I'm choosing to mention today fall into that genre. I loved the magic of watching an ordinary man fall in love with a superstar lady, and having them navigate the ups and downs of that relationship in Notting Hill. I adore the complicated shenanigans that ensue when a wedding planner meets a doctor, and they share a moment - only to find out later on that she's been hired to plan his wedding in The Wedding Planner. I laughed and I cried watching one girl who has been a bridesmaid one too many times finally figure out what she wants and go for it in 27 Dresses. It doesn't hurt that the characters in every film are easy to fall in love with!

"Running" by James Bay
When the lights are faded to black
Only stars are guiding me back
I'll keep running
To the place where I belong
When you think you're on your own
I'm still coming home

"One and Only" by Adele
I dare you to let me be your, your one and only
I promise I'm worthy to hold in your arms
So come on and give me the chance
To prove that I'm the one who can
Walk that mile until the end starts

"Love" by Jana Kramer
I still believe in shooting stars
I still believe in midnight drives
And butterflies you get
Right before you kiss for the very first time

What are your favorite first kisses - in fiction, on television and in movies? Do you have any Korean drama recommendations? Romantic comedy recommendations? What are your favorite love songs?
