About Me

Hi friends! By now, you know that my name is Alexa, and that I’m the proud creator and blogger behind Alexa Loves Books. It looks like you’re interested in a learning a little more about me, so I’m ready to oblige you with a few tales and some fun facts too. Are you ready?

I’m 25 years old, and I am currently a resident of New York. I was born in the US (making me an American citizen), and spent the first eight years of my life living in Maryland, then Virginia. Just before I turned 9, my parents decided to move the family back to the Philippines. I spent a big part of my life growing up there, surrounded by plenty of family in Bacolod and then going off to Manila to study at the Ateneo de Manila University. After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, I spent a year working in the Philippines before my parents encouraged me to move back to the US to try and make a life for myself. And now, a few years later, I’ve happily carved out a little corner of New York just to call my own.

I met my husband in 2005, when he was directing a musical revue that I was the music stage manager for. We bonded over a love of sweets and common values; months later, we were inseparable. We’ve been through our fair share of ups and downs through the years. But I know that Macky is the love of my life, and that he feels the same way about me – and so, in 2013, we were married amidst family and friends in my hometown of Bacolod. It took a while, but he finally was able to join me in the US in late 2014, and I look forward to all the adventures he and I will be having together.

I’m passionate about a few things: organization, acts of kindness, writing, playing video games, traveling and experience life to the fullest. But this blog, in case you haven’t noticed yet, is dedicated to one of the greatest passions of my life: books

My parents are the reason I’m so obsessed with books and stories. My mother and father took turns reading to me while I was in the womb, keeping it up until I was old enough to read for myself. (Seriously, there is video evidence of this.) They’ve bought me books, taken me to bookstores, encouraged my writing – and it’s become a full-blown obsession now because they fanned and stoked the flames.

I’ve always been an obsessive reader - greedy for the tales that transport me to new worlds, introduce new friends, challenge my perspective and make me feel deeply. Books are a part of my everyday – for entertainment, for experience, for education. Alexa Loves Books began in 2011 as a way for me to record what I’d read and how I felt about it. These days, the blog has transformed into something more: a safe space to share my opinions, concoct fun posts and even get a little more personal. I hope you stick around a while, and I hope you like what you see – and definitely come back for more! If you feel like chatting, definitely send me an email at alexalovesbooks(at)gmail(dot)com.

  3. Hello Alexa, my name is Rachell Morton. I am 13 years old. Recently I got awarded “best selling author” on Amazon.com. And I would like to share my book with all of you. It is called: “Margay Stuck on the Tree”. Please write a review and rate. I would really appreciate the feedback. It is for ages 4-6 and perfect for teaching young children how to face their fears. This is the first book of my Margay Life Lessons series. Would you please promote my upcoming series on your blog? Stay tuned for the next ones. :)

And if it is inappropriate for me to post here, I am sorry about that.
