About Me
I'm Alexa, a twenty-something currently living in the beautiful, magical, incredible city of New York, and I read obsessively (no joke!). I read every chance I get, whether it's five minutes while waiting for the subway to arrive, or on long car trips to another state. I collect new books and old books like it's nobody's business, which makes for an extremely large stack of unread books in my apartment. Thing is, I wouldn't have it any other way!
I grew up with a passion for reading, because my parents did their best to instill it in me. My mom would read to me when I was still in her tummy; that didn't change once I was brought into the world. One of my favorite home videos of all time shows me at around a year old with an enormous pile of Dr. Seuss books that I'm asking my mom to read to me. Even then, I was fascinated by words on the page and, as my mom recounts, always knew if she tried to skip ahead. I'm sure that, many years and many books later, my parents are just now realizing how book-crazy I turned out to be.
I like being obsessed with books. They provide an escape, they teach me new things and they definitely keep me entertained. While I'm sure my wallet is not too happy about how much I spend on books, I definitely consider it a worthwhile investment, as I'm building up my library for the future.
Apart from reading books and blogging about them, I like to write. I started out writing fan fiction for my friends when I was in the sixth grade, and I've been hooked since then. Though many of my earlier works are definitely not seeing the light of day, I've been constantly honing my craft and attempting to finish my first full novel ever since.
Travel is another one of my interests. I don't get to do it nearly enough, but whenever I see an opportunity arise, I take it. There's something magical about visiting a different place, especially when you get the opportunity to learn about their history and their culture. My favorite country that I've visited so far has to be Japan; in the future, I look forward to visiting England, specifically London.
I'm engaged! Sometimes, it's pretty surreal to me that I can actually say that now - I'm engaged to the love of my life, Macky, who's been a part of my life for 6 years and 9 months (and counting). We're planning our wedding for September of next year, and so far, it's been so much fun.

Other important things you need to know about me:
- I love to eat, especially if it's dessert. I could eat cookies, ice cream, cupcakes, cake, pie and macarons all the time. My sweet tooth is obviously enlarged.
- Music speaks to me nearly as much as books do. I may have very predictable tastes (hello pop music!), but I'm actually starting to branch out into other musical genres.
- When I do catch stuff on TV, I enjoy the Discovery Channel & Disney Channel. Other shows I'm obsessed with include Pretty Little Liars, The Vampire Diaries, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory and Friends.
- I'm slowly turning into a coffee addict. Most mornings, I am not fully awake until I've had a cup.
- Authors I love include C.S. Lewis, J.K. Rowling, Christopher Paolini, Rick Riordan, Tamora Pierce, Sarah Dessen, Stephanie Perkins, Maggie Stiefvater, Sarah MacLean, Julie Garwood & Veronica Roth.
- My favorite series of all time is the Harry Potter series, followed closely by The Chronicles of Narnia. Obviously, I highly recommend them both.
- These days, I usually read my books on the subway, during my lunch break, on the couch or in my bed. But I try to squeeze reading time whenever I can.
