July 2014 (+ Birthday Giveaway!)

Hurrah! Doing my recap for July means that it's now August, also known as my birthday month, also known as when I get to go shopping all month in celebration! Even though I've been happily filling my online carts with goodies for myself, I've also gathered some goodies for YOU (and we'll get to that a little later on).

July was a pretty busy month! I had the apartment to myself the whole weekend of July 4th, which was glorious. I caught up on blogging (like, seriously caught up), read a ton of books and watched anime. But after that, I was out of the house for two weeks - on adventures in New Jersey with Rachel, and doing YA Runs a 5K in Philadelphia. Last weekend was a bit more relaxed, but most of it was still spent out in the sunshine! Summer is my favorite time to be out of doors, and I'm taking full advantage of the time we have left in this season.

  1. Oh Alexa my dear, it makes my heart happy that you loved so many contemporaries this July! I am DYING to read After I Do this coming weekend after falling head over heels for Taylor's writing in Forever, Interrupted! Also SO glad you loved Just One Year. Despite the reviews I also LOVED that one and thought Gayle did a remarkable job telling Willem's story! NOW if you just so happen to get ONE PLUS ONE, you must read that this month, too! <3 <3 YOU WILL LOVE IT.

  2. That's an awesome giveaway - I know because I own most of those books myself; they're favorites of mine too! Although I definitely need to get the Incarnate series on my shelf ASAP. :)
Looks like you had a great month! Looking forward to reading Isla and Just One Year. I hope you love reading Saving Francesca (Melina Marchetta <33) and I'll Give You the Sun!

  3. Am I the only one that LOVED Something Borrowed? I thought it was such a different love story. I didnt read the books so I cant say much about that. I wish that a sequel will happen but Im not really into watching Darcey and Ethan's love blossom. I still want more of Rachael and Dex<3

  9. I did not read something borrowed but I saw the movie and I liked it. But I didn't find the story compelling enough to read the book as well, like you I was thrown off by the whole lying/cheating thing. But one day I picked up something blue and I fell in love with it completely!!! I have re-read it many many times now and I kind of want to read it again now :) even though I usually skip the beginning part because I don't like it, it is easily one of my favourite books! Seeing darcy changing is so interesting and I promise you will be head over heels for ethan (if you aren't already).
