Becoming immortal wasn't supposed to be the easy part. Though Kate is about to be crowned Queen of the Underworld, she's as isolated as ever. And despite her growing love for Henry, ruler of the Underworld, he's becoming ever more distant and secretive. Then, in the midst of Kate's coronation, Henry is abducted by the only being powerful enough to kill him: the King of the Titans.

As the other gods prepare for a war that could end them all, it is up to Kate to save Henry from the depths of Tartarus. But in order to navigate the endless caverns of the Underworld, Kate must enlist the help of the one person who is the greatest threat to her future... Henry's first wife, Persephone.

Despite my lukewarm response to The Goddess Test, I have to say that AIMEE CARTER has completely surpassed any misgivings I had in the first book with this second volume in the series - GODDESS INTERRUPTED. I find that I'm now extremely excited about reading the next book, as well as the novellas.

I was much more drawn to this story, which feels positively magical. I really enjoyed the way that AIMEE CARTER managed to add an entirely new dimension to her series, all while still incorporating elements of Greek mythology in a way that's recognizable but still fresh and unique. This story is truly captivating, as it adds a new enemy into the mix and is set mostly in the Underworld, otherwise known as Henry's domain, which he now shares with Kate.

One of the things I particularly love about this novel is the relationship between Kate and Henry. I went through all sorts of emotions as I read about their interactions and "heard" Kate's thoughts - desperation, anger, sorrow, bitterness, regret, happiness, joy, peace. AIMEE CARTER wrote their romantic relationship in a convincing, honest and relatable way - and I fell completely in love with it. I was rooting for Henry and Kate the whole time I was reading, and I've got to say that there are definitely moments that tickled my sweet spot!

The one complaint I have about this novel? It ends with a surprise twist! I was literally floored when I had finished reading the book, and now I'm itching for the next one because I simply must know what happens. It's bound to be another exciting adventure, if this book is a foreshadowing of the next one.

AIMEE CARTER's writing and storytelling abilities have simply developed even more in this sophomore novel. GODDESS INTERRUPTED was exciting and intense, fraught with intrigue and filled with romance - and it's an adventure that should not be missed.
