[I received this book from Dalene Flannigan. This in no way affects the contents of my review.]

Grace, Erica and Jude - these three women have a shared history of rooming in a house together, but that’s about all their friendship amounts to. That, and the big secret they made a pact to keep. When one of them wants to step forward and tell someone the truth, it starts a chain of events that changes all their lives forever.

I actually read The Truth About Us because (a) it was about college roommates and (2) I wanted to find out what their shared secret was. What I didn’t expect was to be taken on a crazy, emotional journey alongside Grace, Erica and Jude.

The author told the story from three different viewpoints, thus allowing us a chance to see each individual motive, interpretation and solution. This was an effective tool in getting to know each character on a personal level, and I was able to understand each of them.

It’s difficult to describe how exactly I felt as I read this novel - I was a mess of emotions. It was hard to read, especially because I had my own feelings about the unfortunate situation they were in and I kept wanting to butt in and tell them what to do. But it was well-written, and the story inspired a personal reflection.
