Top Ten Tuesday: Sweet Anticipation

As always, this feature is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
This week's Top Ten Tuesday topic was impossible to resist! I'm excited about a lot of books that are coming out in 2015, so it was a tough call to narrow it down... and still, I managed to go over the usual ten and share fifteen titles I can't wait to read next year.

1. The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon

After the epic conclusion of The Bone Season, it’ll be great to revisit the world of Scion and these characters. I’m particularly curious to find out what has been happening to Paige, and, of course, to Warden. I am sincerely hoping for swoons, but expecting an epic adventure!

2. Shadow Scale by Rachel Hartman

Seraphina impressed me when I read it a couple of years ago. It was a fantasy novel with dragon lore tied into the tale, and I loved that! When I heard that the sequel was finally going to be published, you can bet that my excitement levels went through the roof.

3. Fairest by Marissa Meyer

Y’all already know that the Lunar Chronicles is among my favorite series! Though I’m dying to have Winter in my hands, I’m also very curious about Queen Levana. She’s evil and scary and a completely unforgiving villain – but there’s got to be a reason why, and I can’t wait to find out.

4. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

Sarah J. Maas is one of my writing “queens”, right up there alongside JK Rowling and Tamora Pierce. Her Throne of Glass series has inspired and challenged me to start writing again, and I’ve fallen harder for it with every book. This is the first of her new series – and I can’t wait to fall in love with another one of her stories.

5. I Was Here by Gayle Forman

When it comes to contemporary YA, Gayle Forman certainly knows what she’s doing. I’ve read all of the YA she’s written previously, and loved each story in a different way. It’s an exciting thing to know that she’s releasing another story for readers to devour! Plus, it’s centered on grief, which I’m always interested in reading about.

6. The Devil You Know by Trish Doller

Trish Doller is another contemporary YA author whose works I’ve truly enjoyed. Her characters are flawed, yet likable, a combination that makes them feel real. And her stories, though filled with difficult situations and emotions, read so authentically. I’m looking forward to yet another emotional reading experience care of Ms. Doller!

7. I’ll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios

Heather Demetrios is a fresh authorial voice for 2014. I really enjoyed her debut, Something Real, and also liked the first book of her series about djinn, Exquisite Captive. She returns to contemporary with her offering for next year, I’ll Meet You There, and I’m delighted to immerse myself in her writing again.

8. The Girl at Midnight by Melissa Grey

I’ll be honest – I don’t know much more about this book than the fact that it’s a fantasy and that it involves dragons! That cover is seriously eye-catching though. Plus, a few friends have already read it, and really liked it! I’m a sucker for fantasies, especially ones with mythical magical creatures, so this definitely is on my list.

9. The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows

I had the privilege of reading The Orphan Queen reaaaaally early – and it was awesome. I’m a huge fan of Jodi Meadows and her writing style. In this new duology, she introduces readers to a fantasy world where her titular character Wil is a queen, a vigilante, a mage. I’m already dying for the next book, mind you, which is coming out in 2016. Add this to your TBR!

10. The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord

I also read The Start of Me and You reaaaaally early – and it made me cry in the best way. Emery Lord really knows how to write about friendships, coming of age and family. Her debut Open Road Summer is fantastic; this next book of hers is equally fantastic. Honestly, I just need another Emery Lord book in my life already.

11. Truthwitch by Susan Dennard

Susan Dennard is one of my writing gurus, with her practical advice and constant encouragement. Her first series, the Something Strange and Deadly series, came to an end in the middle of this year. BUT NEVER FEAR READERS! We’ll have access to more of Susan’s awesome writing with the first book of her new series, Truthwitch, which is out late 2015. I’m really excited to read a new fantasy by Susan!

12. Throne of Glass #4 by Sarah J. Maas

See # 4. But really, y’all know I’m a GIGANTIC fangirl for the Throne of Glass series, so it makes a lot of sense that I would be dyiiiiiing to have the next book in my hands already. Sarah knows.

13. P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han

I really loved To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, Jenny Han’s 2014 solo novel. I’m really looking forward to seeing what happens next – particularly, ahem, a brewing romance that I totally shipped. Plus, I’m a fan of Jenny’s writing style in general.

14. The Invasion of the Tearling by Erika Johansen

I was surprised and impressed by adult fantasy novel debut, The Queen of the Tearling. Though there are still a few confusing details, I really liked the lore and the characters. Kelsea, in particular, remains memorable, and I want to see what her next steps will be. After all, there’s still quite a way to go before she can triumph over her adversary. (Update: Apparently, this has a cover now. It makes me weep because I don't quite feel like it's up to part with the first novel.)

15. Winter by Marissa Meyer

See #3. I love the Lunar Chronicles. I can’t wait to see how Marissa wraps it all up in this finale. I can’t wait to be reunited with some of my beloved, favorite characters; I also can’t wait to learn more about Winter and Jacin!

  3. I'm very excited for The mime order, especially after two of my book club members started to rave about it. FAIREST and A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES. I can't wait for both of them, two of my most anticipated 2015 releases. Of course TOG #4 and Winter too :D I still need to read anything by Susan Dennard and Truthwitch sounds amazing. I really liked The queen of the Tearling, so I want to read The invasion of the Tearling as soon as possible :D The orphan queen sounds good and I'm also curious about The girl at midnight.

  4. I'm interested in Fairest, but I CAN'T WAIT for Winter. Although I am curious about Queen Levana, I could easily skip that book if it meant I could have Winter sooner.

  9. Everytime I see a monthly recap I toy with the idea of doing my own and then I see how much work goes into them. I'm not sure I can handle it. You do a fantastic one though so maybe that will be my 2015 goal.
