Rattle the Stars

a birthday gift from my friend Danica!

This year, I’m turning 26 and officially entering the last year of my mid-twenties. There are a lot of things teen me would have thought I’d be doing by now (living in a house, going on grand vacations, to name a few), but I’m content to say that I’m quite happy with where I’m at with my life – the people I’m surrounded with, the situations I find myself in and the future I’m sailing towards. My 25th year was filled with the usual array of speed bumps and roller coaster hills, quiet contentment and giddy joys, and I’m grateful for each and every experience for how it has shaped me into who I am. I’m looking forward to this upcoming year, all the challenges and experiences that will mark this chapter. In fact, I’m steadfastly hoping that, as with every succeeding year so far, life just gets bigger and better and more wonderful!

Because it felt appropriate to start off a new year of my life this way, here are seven personal goals I hope to accomplish in my 26th year. I’m fairly confident I can accomplish at least 4 of these things, but I’d ideally love to do them all!

1. Complete at least two new novels.
2. Finish putting together the open floor plan area of the apartment.
3. Go on a trip to somewhere I’ve never been before.
4. Visit Universal Studios Orlando in order to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter again.
5. Build up a substantial amount of savings.
6. Get my US driver’s license.
7. Search out new job prospects.

I’m looking forward to a whole new year to tackle these goals. It’s a new chapter, a fresh adventure, and I face it with full confidence and brimming with hopeful anticipation. Here’s to hoping for one brand new, kick-ass year in my life!

  2. Happy birthday, Alexa! :) I'm Kat and I've been following your blog for maybe around 2 years now! I'm also a Filipino and I just graduated from Ateneo. I did premed actually but I'm not so sure if I still want to pursue med. I'm still going this year to appease my parents and also to try it out for myself and see once and for all if it's a field that I would learn to like again.

Anyway, my point is that I would just like to ask, if it's alright with you to divulge, what line of work you have in NYC? One of my many dreams is also working in NYC and if med doesnt work out for me, I would really want to pursue this one and give it a chance. I know it's very tough to get a job especially in that city. I'm not entirely sure what your line of work is but in any case, I would still like to ask how the process of finding a job in NYC was for you. :)

Hope you could help me out in some way! Thanks Alexa

  3. Eeeep, happy birthday Alexa!! <33 I hope that you have an amazing birthday. I think it's always surprising to see where we've ended up, but it definitely seems like you're really comfortable with who you are and where you are in your journey, which is just phenomenal. <33

Good luck with these goals! They seem ambitious yet do-able. Here's to an amazing new year for you.

((Also, I'm totally in love with that quote & will be buying one myself, haha).

  5. Happy Birthday, Alexa! Hope you had an awesome day. Good luck on your goals, I'm sure you'll accomplish them in no time. I'm going to get my driver's license this year, too! I should've gotten it sooner but I wasn't ready. I thought driving was scary at first but I actually enjoy it! I feel like I'm having a "me time" when I drive and it helps me relax despite the pedestrians jaywalking lol.

  6. I am SO late in posting my birthday post, which I wanted to do in June but never got around to it. It still counts if I do it next month, right?! Lol

  7. I always love giving myself new goals for the year ahead, normally I do mine on New Years. But I also write myself a letter each birthday of all the amazing things I have done that year and all that I have accomplished, which reminds me just how lucky I am. Also I love that print, so pretty.
