All You Need is Love

Valentine's Day is tomorrow! Rachel of Hello Chelly & I thought it'd be fun to celebrate the occasion by sharing some of our favorite quotes, couples and songs -- all centered around love, of course. After you've checked out my choices, don't forget to pop on over and visit Rachel's post too.

Favorite Quotes

My bounty is as boundless as the sea,
My love as deep; the more I give to thee,
The more I have, for both are infinite.
(Romeo and Juliet / William Shakespeare)

There was no doubt in my mind that I needed to include at least one Shakespeare quote for this post, seeing as how he's one of my favorites. Bonus points because it's from the first play I ever read from him!

“I no longer believed in the idea of soul mates, or love at first sight. But I was beginning to believe that a very few times in your life, if you were lucky, you might meet someone who was exactly right for you. Not because he was perfect, or because you were, but because your combined flaws were arranged in a way that allowed two separate beings to hinge together."
(Blue-Eyed Devil / Lisa Kleypas)

- There's nothing that quite makes me swoon like thinking about Hardy Cates and Haven Travis.

He would have told her - he would have said, it matters not if you are here or there, for I see you before me every moment. I see you in the light of the water, in the swaying of the young trees in the spring wind. I see you in the shadows of the great oaks, I hear your voice in the cry of the owl at night. You are the blood in my veins, and the beating of my heart. You are my first waking thought, and my last sigh before sleeping. You are - you are bone of my bone, and breath of my breath.
(Daughter of the Forest / Juliet Marillier)

- Just rereading this paragraph makes me want to indulge in a reread. (And I will. I actually currently am rereading it...) If you're in the market for a real slow-burn romance, this is your book.

Favorite Couples

Almanzo + Laura (Little House series / Laura Ingalls Wilder)
I shipped these two before I even knew what that meant! But seriously, even when I was a child, when these two were old enough for me to potentially see as a couple, I rooted for them. Makes my heart so happy to think that they wound up together. {runners-up: Chaol  + Celaena (Throne of Glass / Sarah J. Maas), Sam + Ana (Newsoul / Jodi Meadows)}

Nathan + Haley (One Tree Hill)
Right from the get go, Nathan Scott and Haley James were my favorite couple from One Tree Hill. Unexpected pairing of a nerd + jock who really get to know each other via their tutor sessions? COUNT ME IN. But seriously, these two go through so much together and apart and I loved them all the way through. {runner-up: Piper + Leo (Charmed)}

Landon + Jamie (A Walk to Remember)
At first, I was struggling to choose a couple for this category and was going to go the animated route (which in itself was also going to be a struggle). And then I remembered how wonderfully obsessed I was with this movie, and the fact that I still am because it's such a beautiful, wonderful story of true love. Landon and Jamie are, like Nathan and Haley, an unexpected pair. But watching them develop an understanding and affection for each other, and the utter devotion and generosity between them brings tears to my eyes every gosh darn time I think about it.

Favorite Love Songs

No More Heroes / Westlife
"When starlight falls, my love will guide you home."
Honestly, I really, really, really struggled with picking out a Westlife song for this post. I'm a huge fan (still am, even though they've disbanded now), and I loved pretty much every single song at one point or another. This one, however, stands out because of the line I've included. It gives me shivers every time I hear it.

Kiss Me / Ed Sheeran
"Settle down with me, and I'll be your safety; you'll be my lady"
I love Ed Sheeran's music. It's raw, it's real and it's filled with clever phrases and true emotion. Kiss Me is one of my all-time favorite songs, one I return to time and time again. It just captures such a beautiful, simple, life-changing moment - a moment you realize you're in love with someone.

Knocks Me Off My Feet / Stevie Wonder
"I reach out for the part of me that lives in you that only our two hearts can find."
An oldie, but a goodie. I've loved this song since I've first heard it, because it just makes my heart swell with utter happiness. It helps that Macky has sang this song (and dedicated it to me) more than once, so in a way, this feels like it's one of our songs.

And that's it for this post, y'all! Hope you enjoyed seeing some of my favorites, pulled out just in time for this particular holiday. If you feel so inclined, I hope you'll share your favorites too in the comments below. Happy Valentine's Day!
