The Colors of Madeleine (Guest Post + Giveaway)

I'm super excited to be a part of the blog tour for A Corner of White (my review is up over here!), as I found the novel to be supremely imaginative and fancifully written. It was an interesting reading experience, and though I experienced some initial difficulty with the novel, I ended up really liking it. Today, I'm going to be part of the tour and sharing a post featuring the color orange.

Today, The Colors of Madeleine tour also stops by The Readventurer with a guest post from Jaclyn Moriarty! Be sure and visit over there too!
THE POST
In our world, Madeleine is known for using bold colors in her clothing & accessories, but in the Kingdom of Cello, colors have a different role entirely. Read about Cello's color attacks in The Colors of Madeleine, but in the meantime, here are some fun things from our world to enjoy!

Oblige Me With Oranges

1. Dress
2. Wallet
3. French Oven
4. Ballet Flats
5. Journal

Aren't these items just so cute? I realized after seeing these things that I don't have a whole lot of orange in my life. I may have to remedy that because the color is perfectly happy and cheerful!
 GIVEAWAY

One (1) winner receives these goodies:

· Moleskine journal
· Pen
· Coffee mug
· Copy of A Corner of White
 The contest is US ONLY.

EXTRAS
A Corner of White by Jaclyn Moriarty
Series: The Colors of Madeleine #1
Publisher: Arthur A. Levine Books
Publication Date: April 1, 2013

A tale of two worlds, told in brilliant color.

Readers have loved bestselling author Jaclyn Moriarty since The Year of Secret Assignments. Now she gives them A Corner of White, the first in a suspenseful, funny, genre-busting trilogy that brings her fantastic characters, laugh-out-loud descriptions, and brilliant plotting to a fantasy setting.

Madeleine and her mother have run away from their former life and settled in a rainy corner of Cambridge, England (in our world).

In another world, in the Kingdom of Cello, Elliot is in search of his father, who disappeared on the night his uncle Jon was found dead. The talk in the town is that Elliot's dad may have killed Jon and run away with the physics teacher. But Elliot refuses to believe it. And he is determined to find both his dad and the truth.

As Madeleine and Elliot move closer to unraveling their mysteries, they begin to exchange messages across worlds — through an accidental gap that hasn't appeared in centuries. On both sides of the gap, even greater mysteries are unfolding — with more than one life at stake.

  1. My favorite color is definitely purple, so great background! And I obviously am not alone. There's actually a website devoted to selling only purple items called The Purple Store.

  2. I love colors so hard for me to pick just one. I love green right now because of the trees starting to leaf out, fresh grass and the most popular green Money :)

  3. I don't have a color I dislike, so when people ask my favorite color I'm always tempted to name off a bunch of colors. Generally I just say orange and turquoise and/or teal. They're my absolute favorites. I actually own a lot of stuff in both colors because people know I love them and gift things to me. I have a couple pairs of orange shoes, an orange purse, wallet, some shirts... I'm currently looking at an orange ruler that's hanging on my turquoise wall.... I think you get my point. Haha.

  4. My favorite color tends to change with my mood. Right now, it's yellow. It's such a fun, springy color. I've got this lemon yellow cardigan that I wear with my navy maxi skirt and I feel awesome. But honestly, the sunshine is my favorite yellow thing in the world!

  5. I'm an artist and I love colors but my favorite has always been yellow. It just makes me happy! It's not an easy color to wear but I do have a favorite T shirt and sweatshirt and I've always had a yellow room in my house.

Thanks so much for your offer. This is such a fun tour!

  9. I love red - red shiny rain boots, red lipstick, and my favorite, sweet red cherries!

  10. I am a yellow lover, but a nice yellow not a dark ugly color like when a banana goes bad. I like yellow things like the sky in the morning, the walls in my bedroom, yellow rainboots, my yellow pokadot phone case. :)

  11. My favorite color is and always has been yellow :D Any and all shades (even that icky mustardy color, but just not actual mustard because that I don't like, but I like it's color!). There is no bad color yellow though there may be bad items that are yellow colored, the color is still perfect :D

The one yellow that is a bit... well, unexpected would probably be my living room walls. I had asked my husband (mistake number 1? :P) to run up to the hardware store and get me a nice pastel yellow for the walls. He came back with, I kid you not, taxicab yellow so you sort of need sun glasses in the living room of the house as soon as any light hits the walls! At least it's yellow though! Other that that I love the yellow of lemons, the sun (but don't look directly at it to test my yellow theory there!), sunflowers, dandelions(they may be weeds, but I like them), buttercups, and so much more!

Thank you for the chance to enter! Have a great day, week, month, year, decade, and lifetime everyone!

  12. My favorite color is cerulean! It has been ever since I can remember, because that was my favorite Crayola crayon when I was teeny tiny. :)

I haven't read anything by Jaclyn Moriarty, but it's one of those situations where I heard her name for the first time a couple weeks ago, and now I'm seeing her books everywhere! I need to read one!

    Also. That dress? ADORABLE.
