January 2019

I had plenty of lazy days in January, friends. In my defense, I was fighting off illness for a good two weeks until I properly healed up and I go into hibernation mode in the winter because I'm not overly fond of the cold. But I still managed to squeeze in a couple of fun things, including a Dungeons & Dragons session with Macky, Kristin and Andrew and three different book signings.

Of the thirteen books I read in January, my favorites were:
  • The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, an adult fantasy read centering around an individual named Kvothe as he recounts his life story to a chronicler
  • The Blood Spell by CJ Redwine, a young adult fantasy retelling of Cinderella and a companion to the other books in the Ravenspire series
  • The Bride Test by Helen Hoang, an adult contemporary romance featuring an autistic male character and an immigrant female character and a companion to last year's The Kiss Quotient
  • The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty, an adult fantasy that follows one woman's journey to the legendary city of Daevabad, one prince's struggle with his beliefs and his reality, and the political maneuverings and magical mayhem they both must face
  • King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo, the first of the new Grishaverse duology that centers around Nikolai and his story after the events of the previously released series

If you've missed out on anything on my blog or our channel, this section is for you! This section is always a part of my monthly recaps, just so you won't miss out on any of last month's content.

  1. I feel like I also hibernated for most of January and it was just what I needed after such a busy December! I'm glad we got to schedule some time together toward the latter half of the month and I'm so excited for all of our February plans! And I'm so happy you loved Name of the Wind<3

  2. Aaak, I'm sorry you were sick for a lot of January. That sucks. I hope you are feeling better now lovely. <3 Looks like you still got a lot done, though, so that is awesome :D And yay for reading a lot. I also really loved The Blood Spell. <3 I read it back in August, so feels like forever ago, haha. But it was so good :) Hope March is perfect for you so far. <3
