April 2017 (+ April Flights of Fantasy Linky)

Holy moly, y'all. If I thought that March was a busy month, well, April certainly rivals it. There is a lot going on in my life right now - friends coming to town (lots and lots of friends), readjusting to a regular reading schedule, planning sessions for my upcoming out of town visit to Charleston for my best friend's wedding - so it's not too surprising that it's been fairly quiet around here. That's going to change a little in May, since I should (hopefully) be back to regularly scheduled programming. Anyway, all that is unrelated to the actual reason that this recap is going up a little late! It was my sister's birthday yesterday, and I didn't want to post my recap until I could include a photo from it. Without further ado, here's my April recap!

WHAT I DID

April kicked off with a trip up to Woodbury to do some outlet shopping with my parents on their last down in town. We bid them goodbye the next day, then returned to our normal day-to-day of work, movies, dinners with our New York family, and game nights. I got to see Anastasia two times this month, and it was so worth it! We had a couple of days off this month, and so I took full advantage of that time to go to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, watch a few films and read a lot of fan fiction. (Speaking of fan fiction, I actually managed to finish the first part of the Naruto one I'm working on! I'm pretty proud of that.) My friends Pam and Kevin came into town last week (they're also here for the wedding I mentioned), so we did a few fun things like going to The Boba Room and going out for drinks. Macky's birthday was last Friday, and we did a Resident Evil-themed Escape the Room (which was conquered). And for Mel's birthday, we visited a seafood restaurant called The Boil which was delicious.

WHAT I READ

I read a little more than I did last month, finishing up a total of 8 books - most of which happened to be contemporary reads. The shift from winter into spring always finds me wanting to pick up contemporaries, and I'm so happy that I've read a lot of really good ones that I'd recommend!

WHAT I POSTED

I'm pretty confident I'll be able to hit my goal by June if I start moving back into my 'normal' reading speed of 10+ books a month! I managed to read three in April: Sorcery & Cecelia, The Traitor's Kiss and The Girl of Ink and Stars. What fantasies did you read this month? Don't forget to link up to your reviews and challenge update posts below! (If you're interested, you can still sign up to participate in the Flights of Fantasy Reading Challenge 2017.)
