#Fairytale2Pt0 || Red's Untold Tale (Giveaway)

Anyone who has been reading the blog for some time knows that I love fairy tales. I grew up on a steady diet of fairy tales, care of the Grimm Brothers and Disney, and I can't make myself let go of the fanciful, magical, whimsical tales up until this very day, nor would I want to. When I discovered that the lovely folk over at Disney-Hyperion were releasing a series of books that told well-known tales from fresh perspectives, I just knew I had to share about it with all of you!

Today, in particular, I"ll be highlighting Red's Untold Tale by Wendy Toliver, a novel about one of my favorite characters from the ABC television show, Once Upon a Time - Red. She's obviously based on Little Red Riding Hood, but her character is a lot sassier (and totally gorgeous) on this show! I'm definitely curious to see what her story is, and the book is absolutely gorgeous in person. Here's a little bit more on what you can expect:

Publisher: Disney-Hyperion
Publication Date: September 22, 2015

Red is 16 and lives with Granny in a cottage in the village, where boarding up the house and hiding during Wolfstime is a means of survival. Red help’s Granny with Granny’s baked good business, catering as well as door-to-door sales. Red has a constant internal battle between her wild side and her strict, overprotective upbringing, and the issue of “control” as she discovers she has a hot temper when the “mean girls” push her too far. (“When we learn to control it, we needn’t fear it,” Rumpelstiltskin says in the series.) She has flashbacks to her 13th year when she received her cloak and the nickname “Red.” She is plagued by nightmares that she doesn’t understand, but the Once Upon a Time fans will recognize them as her wolf side coming out. Red balances the difficult times with Granny at home and the girls at school with an emerging and satisfying romance with Peter.

If you're interested in Red's story, then you should definitely check out Red's Untold Tale! You'll be hearing from me about this novel when I finally do get to read it, but from what I've read in this summary, it sounds so interesting. Also, if you like fairytales and books inspired by them, then also check out A Whole New World and A Frozen Heart, which are the other two titles in this collection. And now, here's the moment you've all been waiting for - the giveaway details!

  1. Yay for fairy tales! I haven't heard about Red's Untold Tale and I actually haven't watched Once Upon A Time (I know, I totally should) but that premise sounds great and totally would read this one given the chance! :D

  2. I've been obsessed with the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale since I was a kid. I loved the character of Red on OUAT, though there hasn't been nearly enough of her storyline, in my opinion.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  12. It's a tie between Red's story and A Whole New World in terms of what book I'm excited for. I don't really know much about A Frozen Heart though I assume it has to do with Frozen/the Snow Queen. Thanks for the giveaway!
