Top Ten Tuesday: Playing {Blog} Favorites

As always, this feature is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

After reading Hannah's awesome Top Ten Tuesday post highlighting her favorite posts, I immediately went out of my way to tell her how much I adored it. It inspired me to find some of my own favorite posts, and with Hannah's encouragement, I decided to share them in my own version of her Top Ten Tuesday topic! Here are some of my favorite posts that I've written and shared since I started this blog in 2011.

This is, without a doubt, one of my favorite posts I've ever written! Inspired by a Twitter conversation with Erica, I went ahead and matched up outfits + book characters - and it was so dang fun. (And in case you were wondering, I do plan to do an edition this year as well. Watch out for it!)

It strikes me as funny that I'd include a previous Top Ten Tuesday post here, but I really love this one. It was the first time I'd attempted to use GIFs to explain how I felt, and it's a major bonus that I was able to use ones from Tangled, one of my favorite Disney films!

I team up with Rachel for a lot of blog-related things, but Books in Real Life is my favorite thing that we do together. Our first ever adventure was inspired by Miranda Kenneally's Racing Savannah, and involved going on a horseback ride through a very beautiful trail.

If there's one thing that hasn't changed about my reading habits, it's my preference when it comes to binge reading a series. I'd rather have the complete series ready for my reading pleasure, if at all possible (and there are exceptions to this rule), and I take the time to binge the heck out of it.

When I first became friends with Cassie, I was determined to make her fall in love with fantasy. So, I set about writing a love letter to fantasy novels and recommending my favorites. In the spirit of celebrating my favorite genre, I invited some of my friends to join in too!

As I think most of my readers know by now, I only recently moved back to the USA in 2010. My decision to move here was not mine; it was mostly my mother's idea, her encouragement blocking out any of my doubts. It was lovely to get a chance to reflect on the past few years.

Before Macky & I got married, before he was finally able to join me in the USA, we spent almost four years apart. I really enjoy getting personal in my posts, and in this one, I shared about how we managed to keep our relationship going strong in spite of having an ocean between us.

I'm very proud to be Filipino, and Rachel & I felt it was important to try to celebrate that. So last year, we put together an event called Mabuhay!, that allowed us to celebrate our culture, our country and our fellow Filipinos. (PS - There will be a mini-edition this year!)

I adore celebrating the books + series + authors I love! Last year, Rachel & I teamed up to throw Susan Dennard a surprise party for the release of Strange and Ever After. One of my favorite things we did was gather messages from author friends and blogger fans - it was really cool!

Everyone is definitely aware that I massively love and adore Sarah J. Maas and her Throne of Glass series (and her A Court of Thorns and Roses series too). Last year, I helped organize a blog tour for Heir of Fire, and for my stop, I shared why everyone should be Team Celaena (Aelin).

And there you have it - a round-up of some of my favorite posts I've written over the years! I also feel like these posts are a good representation of who I am, as a person and as a blogger. Hope you enjoyed this look into the Alexa Loves Books archives with me! (And if you have a favorite post that you want to share, feel free to do so in the comments. I'll go check them out!)

  4. I love this post! It's nice to highlight some of those older posts that are still fabulous, but have gotten lost in the archives. I'm especially in love with the gala one, because I'm a fashion junkie.

  5. I'VE BEEN WANTING TO READ THIS just because the author also wrote The Adventures of Cinnamon Girl. The only problem is that it seems to be mostly published in AUS? I can't find it in the US unless I go on Amazon or something. Nevertheless I will still keep my eye out for it!
