Little House in the Woods

If I had a time machine and could return to last weekend, I probably would. Alas, time travel has not yet been perfected, and so I’ll only have the memories of our fall getaway to return to time and again.

It’s puzzling how we’ve never gotten the idea to do this sooner, as everything was so simple and easy to set up – the house rented for the weekend, a three hour road trip and groceries secured. The whole affair felt like a dream! We had enough food, drinks + activities to keep us preoccupied for our time at the house upstate, and the house itself had fun things for us to do (like a Ping Pong table, a fireplace and a hot tub).

We got in late Friday night, with the darkness threatening to black everything out. We ate dinner, and played games, took a dip in the hot tub and jammed on guitars. On Saturday, we ventured out and about to see the acreage the house was on. There was a tumble from the hammock, and marshmallows by the fire. There was cooking, and eating, and drinking, and dancing, and laughing, and more games, and naps and a lingering sense of contentment. On Sunday, we dragged our feet as we cleaned up and got ready to leave, wishing only we could stay just a little longer.

It was dreamy. It was magical. It was just the perfect way to celebrate the autumn season.

And now, I officially just want to go back there with my friends.
Instead, here are some photos we took while we were away:
