A Magical Menagerie

In most fantasy novels, there are fantastical magical creatures. Seriously, the level of imagination that goes into creating creatures like a unicorn or a phoenix and so many more is pretty damn cool. I've always enjoyed having magical creatures in the fantasies I've read, so Hannah and I are going to be talking about them on our blogs today!

What's your favorite magical creature from a book?

I'm in love with the water horses, the capaill uisce formally, from The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater. They are wild, untamed beings, born of the sea, but there's something compelling about the danger of their nature. It would be very cool to see a water horse in real life. (my review)

What magical creature would you most like to be?

Hands down, I would love to be a dragon. There are many books I've read and loved that feature dragons, both those with the ferocity of an enemy and those with the friendliness of an ally. One of my favorite books with dragons? Eon and Eona by Alison Goodman. ENERGY DRAGONS, Y'ALL. (my review)

What magical creature would you like to have as a pet?

This was really hard to decide on! But in the end, I decided to go with a wyvern. There's something about this particular kind of dragon that I love! Perhaps it's because most wyverns are a bit smaller than dragons, and slightly more agile. Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas features one of my favorite wyverns! (my review)

  1. Oh! I love magical creatures as well, I think they are one of the best things about the genre. One of my favourite series that feature amazing magical creatures is The Grimoire Saga by S.M. Boyce. Not only all the inhabitants of this world are fascinating, but the magical creatures are unique! There's this one animal called a Flare that can walk through stone, and this other one whose name I can't pronounce that can teleport! They are seriously cool!
