Project Tell Taylor

What is Project Tell Taylor?

Remembrance, a novel written by my friend Michelle Madow, was inspired by the beautiful music video that Taylor Swift created for the song Love Story. Michelle has talked about this inspiration on her blog, and she's even written a letter to Taylor Swift and sent it to her, along with a signed book.

Michelle really wants Taylor to know how much she and her music have inspired her - but since Taylor is an international superstar, she's definitely a little hard to reach. This is where YOU can help! Michelle is giving away the biggest prize pack she's offered yet - and all you have to do to enter is to tell Taylor Swift about Remembrance!

To make it even simpler, the goal of Project Tell Taylor is to get Taylor Swift to tweet about Remembrance!

About Remembrance

Title: Remembrance
Author: Michelle Madow
Series: Transcend Time Saga #1
Add It: Goodreads
Buy It: Amazon || Barnes & Noble || The Book Depository
New Hampshire high school junior Lizzie Davenport has been reincarnated from Regency Era, England ... but she doesn't know it yet.

Then Drew Carmichael transfers into Lizzie's school at the beginning of the year, and she feels a connection to him, almost like she knows him. She can't stop thinking about him, but whenever she tries talking with him about the mysteries behind her feelings, he makes it clear that he wants nothing to do with her. Reaching him is even more difficult because she has a boyfriend, Jeremy, who has started to become full of himself after being elected co-captain of the varsity soccer team, and her flirtatious best friend Chelsea starts dating Drew soon after his arrival. So why can't she seem to get him out of her mind?
Even though Lizzie knows she should let go of her fascination with Drew, the pair of them soon find that fighting fate isn't going to be easy. (from Goodreads)

10 Taylor Swift Lyrics that Inspire Me

I have to agree with Michelle:  I think Taylor Swift is incredibly inspiring. As a person, she's got an engaging, genuine and incredibly awe-inspiring personality. The passion and the excitement with which she treats her career is really something that I can look up to. But, even more concretely, her song lyrics provide creative inspiration for many of us, myself included.

So, to commemorate the beginning of Project Tell Taylor in an extra special way, here's my first vlog ever where I tell you what ten of my favorite lines from songs written and performed by Taylor Swift are. These are all lines with great imagery and lines that have managed to spark creativity (in the form of writing) in my brain.

(P.S. Ignore me pointing at empty spaces - find the links at the bottom of my post!)

The lyrics I mentioned in the video are:

1.
"Soon, she's gonna find stealing other people's toys from the playground won't make you any friends."
Song: Better than Revenge || Album: Speak Now
Why I Love It: The line makes the situation simple - if you don't respect other people and what belongs to them, you're not going to create good relationships with other people. This always gets me thinking about a villain-type character when I'm writing.

2.
"You're the only thing I know like the back of my hand."
Song: Breathe || Album: Fearless
Why I Love It: It brings to mind the kind of relationship where you've known each other forever and know just about everything about each other. There's a familiarity present, and it always never fails to remind me of long friendships.

3.
"I don't know how it gets better than this - you take my hand and drag me headfirst, fearless."
Song: Fearless || Album: Fearless
Why I Love It: The line reads as something brave, spontaneous and fearless. I love how, whenever I read this, I always feel like I should be writing about the beginnings of a love story.

4.
"You and I walk a fragile line; I have known it all this time, but I never thought I'd live to see it break."
Song: Haunted || Album: Speak Now
Why I Love It: This is one of my favorite songs - and the imagery this song draws on is brilliant. You can feel the tension in the relationship, as well as how it eventually snaps under pressure.

5.
"Long live all the mountains we moved; I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you."
Song: Long Live || Album: Speak Now
Why I Love It: This reminds me of fantasy novels, where there are always teams or heroes or heroines fighting a battle. It's a very epic statement - and I love that she chose to use this imagery.

6.
"This love is difficult, but it's real."
Song: Love Story || Album: Love Story
Why I Love It: This is one of the truest statements about love that I've ever heard. Plus, it's always the case in most of my favorite books - the romance experiences its difficulties, but the couple always fight to be together if they know it's true.

7.
"Ghosts from your past gonna jump out at me. Lurking in the shadows with their lip gloss smiles, but I don't care 'cause right now, you're mine."
Song: Ours || Album: Speak Now (Special Edition)
Why I Love It: The image of the ghosts of past relationships hanging around and haunting a new relationship is well-done, plus I cannot tell you how many ghostly love triangles this has inspired me to start writing about.

8.
"I run my fingers through your hair and watch the lights go wild."
Song: Sparks Fly || Album: Speak Now
Why I Love It: The imagery of real sparks flying between two people in love is brilliantly done in this song. I love this line because it just feels like a bit of magic is being performed.

9.
"The battle's in your hands now, but I would lay my armor down if you said you'd rather love than fight."
Song: The Story of Us || Album: Speak Now

Why I Love It: Again, I'm a huge fantasy fan. The idea of being in battle armor when arguing in a relationship is a little ridiculous but it makes so much sense! This has made for some pretty epic battle scenes in my brain.

10.
"You're tied together with a smile, but you're coming undone."
Song: Tied Together with a Smile || Album: Taylor Swift
Why I Love It: Many of us have experienced firsthand the difficulty of pretending we're okay when we're really not. Taylor's imagery in this song is really effective.
