Fledging illustrator and Darcy fanatic Kay Ashton settles in the seaside town of Lyme to finish her book, The Illustrated Darcy, when a film company arrives to make a new adaptation of Jane Austen's Persuasion. Kay is soon falling for the handsome bad boy actor playing Captain Wentworth, but it's the quiet screenwriter Adam Craig who has more in common with her beloved Mr. Darcy. Though still healing from a broken heart, Adam finds himself unexpectedly in love with Kay. But it will take more than good intentions to convince her that her real happy ending is with him.

If you’re in search of a novel filled with fun characters, a cute romance, a lovely setting and Jane Austen references, then you need look no further - this is the novel you’re looking for. After all the paranormal books I’d been reading, this was a welcome and quite refreshing change.

As an Austen fan, I can definitely say this book made me quite happy. It isn’t only the fact that Kay drew illustrations of Austen’s characters or that they were filming Persuasion in Lyme; it’s also relevant to note that the characters experienced the ups and downs of relationships a la Austen.

Though this novel has a predictable ending and injects a bit too much insta-love for my taste, I really enjoyed it. Sometimes, in my opinion, it’s just lovely to pick up a book that’s light, easy to read and basically leaves you with a good mood overall.

  5. I felt the same way about this one. I appreciated the light, fluffiness that I got to experience after a bunch of paranormal and dystopian novels. It was a lot of fun, but I was also a bit bugged by the insta-love. It was definitely worth the read. :) I got approved for the next one on Netgalley. Did you?

  9. *nods in agreement* I needed a break from all my crazy long, dark, intense paranormal/dystopian/contemporaries. This made me smile :)

I definitely need a light, fluffy read for in between all my dark dystopians! I'll have to add this to my to-read pile and stick it right next to Shannon Hale's Austenland books :)
