Top Ten Tuesday: Winter 2011 TBR

As always, this feature is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

I have so many books on my reading pile that it isn't even funny anymore.
But here are the top ten books I'm hoping to finish this winter.

1. Inheritance by Christopher Paolini

Why? It's the final book in the Inheritance cycle and I owe it to myself to finish the incredible journey the first three parts took me on.

Why haven't I read it yet? It's basically because I can't bear to see it end. Plus, it's been a few years since I've read the first three, so I wanted to reread them first.

2. Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

Why? I loved Anna and the French Kiss.  It was easy to fall in love with her writing style and I can't wait to meet these two new characters. Plus, I want to see Anna and Etienne make their appearance!

Why haven't I read it yet? I haven't read it because I don't have the book yet. I've been meaning to get it for myself but (a) I'm on a book buying ban and (b) it's on my Secret Santa wish list so someone else might get it for me.

3. All These Things I've Done by Gabrielle Zevin

Why? The cover is gorgeous. The story synopsis is intriguing. And it involves chocolate.

Why haven't I read it yet? I only purchased this book fairly recently, but I keep forgetting to put it towards the front of my shelf. I keep seeing it when I examine my bookshelves.

4. Eona by Alison Goodman

Why? It's the sequel to Eon, and I'm dying to see how everything goes down in this one.

Why haven't I read it yet? I like savoring my signed books - and since I won a contest hosted by Shanella, this is one of those books.  Also, as with the Inheritance cycle, I'd like to reread Eon first.

5. The Future of Us by Jay Asher & Carolyn Mackler

Why? It's a story about two teens who discover something interesting - themselves in the future.

Why haven't I read it yet? I have no excuse for this one, really.

6. The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater

Why? It's by Maggie Stiefvater. 'Nuff said.

Why haven't I read it yet? See #5.

7. The Luxe by Anna Godbersen

Why? Apart from the gorgeous cover, the story itself seems utterly intriguing. Plus, it's gotten great recommendations from a bunch of bloggers.

Why haven't I read it yet? It's at the very bottom of my pile of books, so I don't actually see it when I'm looking for what to read next. And I don't want to pull it out or the whole stack will fall (yes, I can be lazy like that).

8. What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen

Why? I love almost all of Sarah Dessen's books, so I'm pretty sure I'll like this one.

Why haven't I read it yet? I only got this one fairly recently; it's just not been added to the TBR pile because there are review books lined up.

9. The Help by Kathryn Stockett

Why? I saw the movie trailer and the story intrigued me. I usually like to read the book before watching the film, and that's what I want to do for this one.

Why haven't I read it yet? I don't know actually. I always want to, but then end up skipping over it.

10. Marked by PC & Kristin Cast

Why? I love books about vampires, plus this series has great reviews.

Why haven't I read it yet? I needed a break from reading about supernatural creatures and I wanted to wait until I had the next few books in hand.

So those are my top ten TBR books (which I hopefully finish).
What's on your winter TBR list?

I definitely recommend The Luxe series. Make sure you have all the books on the series on hand, though ;) I keep going back and forth on All These Things I've Done and The Future of Us- but seeing them here again makes me want to add them to my TBR pile!

  18. I really want to read The Scorpio Races, too! I loved Shiver, and I'm kind of on auto-read with Maggie S. The Luxe looks really good, and the cover is to DIE for. I've got Marked and really need to get to it. I do the same thing where I buy a book and take a million years to actually read it. I'm trying to reform myself, though. Getting a little bit better these days...

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  20. Lol, except for The Lux, these are all on my to-read list as well! :)
And Inheritance... I so want to read it! I think I'm gonna dive in without rereading the first three, I don't think I'll ever have the time to read all 4 without feeling guilty for all the other books I need to read...
Hope you get Lola! I have it on my Christmas wish-list as well and am on a book buying ban as well... :)

  21. Great list!! Quite a few of these need to be on my 2012 TBR Challenge list! Especially "All These Things I've Done" which I won in a giveaway and has been glaring at me accusingly from my bookshelf ever since. I also want to read The Help, Luxe, and Scorpio Races and eventually Anna, then Lola too!

  22. Thanks for stopping by! I absolutely flipped my lid over The Scorpio Races, so I hope you enjoy it, as well. It is now my favorite Maggie Stiefvater novel. Good luck with your list!

  23. The Luxe!!! You have to read The Luxe!!!

I love it. Seriously--one of my favorite series of all time. The Bright Young Things series is also amazing--Anna Godbersen is such a talanted writer.

Haha, ok, I'm done fan-girling. Lola is on my list too, after I read Anna and the French Kiss :)

I have LOLA on my list, too, and I think you'll really enjoy THE SCORPIO RACES. It's a different sort of book, but boy is it original and mesmerizing!

  30. gah! I still haven't read Brisingr. Must get to it. Also, I just received Luxe in the mail! Saw it on trademe (kinda like ebay) for $1 and snapped it up. Looking forward to reading that one too. Oh, and The House of Night series is ok. I gave up around book 7 I think. I enjoyed the first book in the Evernight series so much better than House of Night.
