An Interview with Michelle Madow + Giveaway

Today, I'm very lucky to be the official stop for the book tour hosted by Stuck in YA Books for Remembrance, the debut novel by author Michelle Madow. I gushed about this enchanting book in my review yesterday, and I'm very excited to be promoting a book that I truly did love.

New Hampshire high school junior Lizzie Davenport has been reincarnated from Regency Era, England ... but she doesn't know it yet.

Then Drew Carmichael transfers into Lizzie's school at the beginning of the year, and she feels a connection to him, almost like she knows him. She can't stop thinking about him, but whenever she tries talking with him about the mysteries behind her feelings, he makes it clear that he wants nothing to do with her. Reaching him is even more difficult because she has a boyfriend, Jeremy, who has started to become full of himself after being elected co-captain of the varsity soccer team, and her flirtatious best friend Chelsea starts dating Drew soon after his arrival. So why can't she seem to get him out of her mind?

Even though Lizzie knows she should let go of her fascination with Drew, the pair of them soon find that fighting fate isn't going to be easy.

Today, I'm very lucky to be featuring an interview with author Michelle Madow about her novel and what's in store for the future.

ALB: Describe Remembrance in five words.

Romantic, magical, reincarnation, love, and second-chances (Hopefully the dash makes second-chances one word instead of two!)

ALB: Who was your favorite character to write in Remembrance (apart from Lizzie, of course!)?

Other than Lizzie, the character I enjoyed writing most was Chelsea. She’s got a lot of spunk, and high expectations for everything. She was hurt really badly in Remembrance though. I hope that the readers enjoy seeing things from her point of view in the short story sequel, Vengeance, which takes place between Remembrance and the final book in the Saga.

ALB: Since one of the biggest parts of Remembrance is the masquerade party, I wanted to ask: if you could design a mask to wear to the masquerade, what would it look like?

Being totally honest, the mask Lizzie wears is the exact same kind I would like to have for a masquerade! Unlike Lizzie though, I have no artistic ability when it comes to drawing.

ALB: What's next up for you book-wise? And life-wise?

Book-wise, Vengeance is coming out on December 8, 2011, and I’m so excited for its release! You can check out its Goodreads page here and add it to your to-read list. After Vengeance releases, I’m going to be hard at work writing the third novel in the Transcend Time Saga. Life-wise, I just started my first semester of graduate school at Johns Hopkins University, where I’m working towards receiving a MA in Fiction Writing. I’m hoping to be a full-time writer when I graduate, but I’m also exploring other options in case that isn’t possible immediately following graduation.
Thank you so much Michelle for answering all of my questions! If you'd like to know more about her, you can visit her official site here. I, for one, am definitely excited to read Vengeance, as I'm sure anyone else who reads Remembrance will be too.
But readers, that's not all - there are THREE ways you can win a Remembrance Prize Pack.
Yes, you can win this whole pack by entering any of the three contests below:

  1. I feel so bad for Chelsea. Though she could have handled things better, I still can understand where she's coming from. I can't wait for Vengeance!

  2. I love how she based the mask off of a real mask! It's gorgeous! I didn't like Chelsea at all, but then you have to think... she was kind of the one who got messed around the most. I'm interested to see what happens to her in Vengeance!
