Top Ten Tuesday: Cue Loud Gasps

As always, this feature is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

1. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
I seriously could not contain myself when I was reading this - and the ending left me wanting more.

2. Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
See #1.

3. My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
The ending was quite emotional for me, especially because I love my sisters.

4. Brisingr by Christopher Paolini
I was expecting a trilogy, so it was off-putting to be finding myself with more questions than ever towards the end. Iwas shocked (which morphed into pleasant surprise) to find out there was going to be one last book (Inheritance - out this November!)

5. The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan
What a spectacular twist! I was left dying to know what happens next in this series - and I'm so glad I got my hands on a copy of Son of Neptune today!

6. The Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck
This has become an unexpected favorite with me, though I didn't know it was a series either. I want to find out how they continue to work on the curse!

7. Divergent by Veronica Roth
So much action, so many things happening all at once, so emotionally invested - this was quite spectacular.

8. Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling
I think I wailed a bit when I turned the last page. And then I just reveled in the awe I felt about how J.K. Rowling prettily tied everything together, tossing a few unexpected plot twists in here and there.

9. Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
I picked it up on a whim - and this beautifully written tale left me with a hankering to find out more about the wolves of Mercy Falls.

10. The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan
Honestly, he just writes such good books. Really. And I couldn't wait to read the next book (The Throne of Fire), which came out earlier this year.

YOUR TURN: What are some of the book endings you've read that had your mouth open (and other violent reactions)?

  1. Awesome list. :) I honestly blanked out when it came to adding Divergent to the list. I loved the ending in that book, oh well. :P

  5. I was so annoyed when while reading Brisingr, I discovered it wasn't the last book in the series! Don't get me wrong, I love those books, but well, the wait is SO bad! It's been 3 years! But I did pre-order Inheritance :)
I so agree on the Hunger Games and Catching Fire!
I'm a bit worried that My Sister's Keeper is on so many lists... I need to read that book!
    Great list :)

  8. @yacrush - Wasn't The Lost Hero brilliant? I have Son of Neptune but I'm going to have to wait until Sunday to read it. And yes, Divergent is just so, so good.

Thanks for dropping by my blog!

  9. @SusanneI thoroughly enjoyed Red Pyramid, probably because of my soft spot for Egyptian mythology. But The Lost Hero is still my favorite Riordan book! (Although with Son of Neptune now in my hands, I don't know if that'll last).

    Thanks for dropping by! :)

  10. @Daisy - It is killing me right now to not have Insurgent in my hands. I need to know what happens next!

And yes, The Hunger Games & Catching Fire were both brilliant reads. I'd recommend My Sister's Keeper too.

Yay as well for being a fellow Inheritance Cycle fan! I was so shocked by the end of Brisingr and I've been dying to find out how it all ends. Can't waaaaait!

  11. We had quite a few of the same choices! The Hunger Games series is one big jaw-dropping series but the first two definitely left me craving the last in the series. Awesome list!
