2017 Love-a-Thon: Sweethearts for You

The Love-a-Thon is an annual event that has been running since 2012, and it's continued to grow in the five years since then. It's meant to encourage positivity, form and strengthen relationships and to just be a whole lot of fun. This year, I'm co-hosting with Cee of The Novel HermitKristin of Super Space Chick & Mel of The Daily Prophecy! (P.S. If you're only discovering this event today, please know that you're still welcome to sign up to be a part of it!)

Sweethearts are a popular candy when Valentines Day rolls around, mostly because they're an adorable way to pass on little messages to your valentine(s). Cee came up with the fun idea of doing an entire challenge centered around those messages for this year! All you've got to do is fill in the prompts she's come up with (whether its for a real or a fictional person), and you're good to go.

P.S. If you want to be entered in the giveaway for this challenge, please link us to your post for the challenge over at The Novel Hermit. Don't fret if you're not awake yet, as the linky will be open through February 20!

Love Wins / A couple you didn't think would get together, but against all odds, they did
The first couple that popped into my head when I read this prompt are Iolanthe and Titus from the Elemental Trilogy by Sherry Thomas. Those two meet under very, hmm, interesting circumstances, but they quickly build up a rapport that later becomes something more. The challenges aren't dealt with that quickly, however, as these two definitely go through so much more before the trilogy ends.

I Do / A character you'd marry
Honestly, there is definitely more than one fictional character that I would happily agree to marry if the stars aligned and put us in that position. But I'm going to have to give sort of a cop out answer here and say that I'm happily married to my husband Macky, who is the love of my life in all of the ways.

Dream Big / A character whose dreams you want to come true
I thought I'd struggle more with this prompt, but I actually came up with an answer instantly - Inej from the Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo. I've always harbored an immense love for and girl crush on this badass Wraith, and I definitely think she's someone who deserves to have all the things she's ever dreamt of come true.

Crazy 4 U / A character you're crazy about
If you've been following me on Twitter or Instagram, you'll likely not be surprised by my choices for this prompt. Yes, choices. Yes, I'm aware this is cheating. But you cannot make me choose between all of my beloved boys from the Naruto series - Kakashi Hatake, Shikamaru Nara, Naruto Uzumaki, Sabaku no Gaara, Minato Namikaze, Itachi Uchiha and (Uncle) Sasuka Uchiha. Basically, can I just say that I'm crazy for pretty much all of the main plays in Naruto? Because I really am.

True Love / Your ultimate OTP
I love a good OTP,  and I'm going to have to go with a relatively new one that I've added to my arsenal - Amy Pond and Rory Williams. I'm a big, big, big fan of the Ponds, and their adventures with the Eleventh Doctor are definitely high on my list of favorites when it comes to Doctor Who.

Te Amo / A language you'd want to be wooed in
It might surprise people to hear this, but I'm going to go with Tagalog. I'm not very well-versed in deep Tagalog, if I'm being perfectly honest. But I've got a soft spot for the way lyrics are written in Tagalog and how they evoke feelings and imagery in a really perfect way.

BFF / A character you want to be your best friend
I'm going to say I want to be best friends with Cress and Thorne from The Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer. I consider them a two-for-one deal at this point, and I think we would have some mighty fun adventures if I joined them on the Rampion! Cress and I would bond over our love of Earth entertainment, and I'd just laugh a lot at Thorne's antics.

Wink Wink / A character you'd want to wink at you
I'm going to go with Kenji from the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi. He's always been my favorite person in that series, and that hasn't changed even though it's been years since I read it. His commentary always managed to make me smile, and I really picture him being super cute and just my type.

Sweet Talk / A character who knows how to sweet talk/flirt
Dean Di Laurentis from The Score by Elle Kennedy is definitely a flirt, and he knows it too. I honestly didn't think I'd ever grow to love him as much as I did. Alas, Elle Kennedy proved me wrong yet again and I fell head over heels in love with him the way I did for his two housemates before him.

Best Day / A moment from a book you wished happened to you
There's a moment right out of a romantic comedy that happens at the end of The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson, and I would definitely not be averse to that happening to me in real life. I'm a sucker for romantic comedies (a fact I've repeated a billion times on multiple platforms), and I would basically just love to have more moments out of a romantic comedy happening in my real life, thank you very much!

Ooh La La / A character you want to slow dance with
Chaol Westfall, my Captain of the Guard, my one true love from the Throne of Glass series is definitely someone I'd want a slow dance with. Just thinking about it makes me feel so happy, and why can't this be happening again?

Love You / The character that gets your undying love
As always, I'm going to be talking about Sam from the Newsoul series by Jodi Meadows. I've loved Sam ever since I first read Incarnate, and it's a love affair that's lasted up until now. He is smart, sincere, sweet and strong, and I love him so darn much.

(P.S. Just for fun, I'm going to link you to a YA Prom post I did a while ago where I wrote about the last two boys!)
