My heart is happy now that The Orphan Queen has been out in the world for a couple of days, but also sad that this blog tour is coming to an end. It's been a true pleasure to spread the word about this book, and I highly, highly, highly recommend it. I'm going to be including a full recap of all the stops at the end of this post, so don't forget to check out the ones you might have missed! You can also check out my review and my interview with Jodi.
One of my favorite things about The Orphan Queen is the presence of a masked vigilante known as Black Knife. Now, I don't know about you, but I've always loved the idea of masks and what they represent. A mask is one's identity, even as it hides one's identity. It gives you an extra layer of protection that way, and it also usually winds up with you being given a cool moniker.
Here are five male masked characters that I really like (apart from Black Knife, that is!):
Zorro - When I think of masked characters, Zorro is actually the first to come to mind! He's a nobleman in disguise who defends his people; what could be more wonderful than that? I like the all black outfit he's got going on too, because really, black is best for stealthy purposes.
Batman - I used to be a big Superman fan, but my husband has actually influenced my sincere appreciation for Batman. He's really just a regular guy, with super cool gadgets, excellent fighting skills and just sheer stubbornness seeing him through all he faces in Gotham.
Captain America - While I have many favorites in the Marvel Universe, and though many know his true identity, I have a huge soft spot for Captain America. He's a great leader, a team player and always stands by his principles.
Tuxedo Mask - Let's be honest, and just say that it's really the girls who kick ass on Sailor Moon. But Tuxedo Mask, with his innate ability to show up just when he's needed and provide support and protection, definitely won me over when I first watched the show.
Lucien - While A Court of Thorns and Roses is only coming out in May, I can already sense that Lucien will be a favorite for many. He's a friend and emissary for Tamlin, and always provides snarky, smartass (yet charming) commentary. I instantly fell for him when he first showed up! While this particular photo doesn't show it, Lucien does bear a mask - for a reason you'll find out when you read the novel.
Whew! Now that you've gotten the rundown on some of my favorite masked characters, it's time for a giveaway! Harper Collins has generously offered to give away one finished copy of The Orphan Queen to my readers, US ONLY. To enter, please use the Rafflecopter form.
Thank you for following The Orphan Queen blog tour! I was seriously so excited to be able to put together something special in honor of this novel, and grateful to all the bloggers who joined in on the fun! For a full list of the stops on the two tours that are finished, please see below:

OMG I adore Tuxedo Mask!! Have you been watching the reboot, Sailor Moon Crystal?
ReplyDeleteAhh! Tuxedo Mask! Always. <3
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I ADORE this blog post!!! And you know how I feel about Black Knife now <3 Eeeeeee!! The vigilante that comes to my mind first is always Arrow now since I love the show. And Oliver Queen does remind me of Black Knife :) But Zorro is a great choice, I love the Antonio Banderas movie. And CAPTAIN AMERICA! My other love! So many great masked characters out there. Thank you for the giveaway, I'd love a finished copy so I can start rereading already!
ReplyDeleteAwesome picks. Batman + Zorro = classic, and Tuxedo Mask was such an integral part of my young life. =D
ReplyDeleteDo we get a separate post for masked female characters? I have to admit I am struggling to come up with any outside of comic books (Catwoman!!) Maybe we need more!
Batman! He's my favourite superhero.I've been obsessed with him throughout my childhood, and the fangirl in me was so happy with The Dark Knight Trilogy,as Nolan made a picture perfect batman film and Christian Bale is amazing as the superhero.
ReplyDeleteCaptain America! Ugh, my love. I am ALL FOR him, even though his mask strikes me as a bit goofy at times. I still absolutely love him. And I'm a huge sucker for masked characters, mostly because I'm also a huge sucker for when they take the mask off and there's a handsome face underneath. /swoon So cliche, but still so perfect. :P
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! I think Zorro is the best out of the ones you picked. I love Latin Lovers, what can I say? I fall for the over-the-top cheesiness ;) Aaallsssooo, I like the Scarlet Pimpernel (though he doesn't wear a physical mask...) <3 <3 <3
ReplyDeleteFun post, girl! I'm excited to meet both Black Knife and Lucien! I think I'll be adding two more book boys to my list. :) I'm also a fan of Batman.
