FOF Book Club: Anne Bishop

It's time for the very first Flights of Fantasy Book Club of 2017! I'm so happy to be doing another full year of book club reads, featuring fantasy authors that are new to both me and Rachel. But, before we get to our first read for the year, it's time to announce the winner of our end of the year giveaway for one fantasy book of your choice.

And the winner is... Heather of Based on a True Story!

And now, back to book club! This month, we're tackling an author that we've actually heard a fair bit about - Anne Bishop. We'll be reading Written in Red, which is the first book in her series The Others. (P.S. If you haven't yet signed up for Flights of Fantasy Reading Challenge 2017, you can do so here. Also, you can buy the book here!)

Publication Date: March 4, 2014

As a cassandra sangue, or blood prophet, Meg Corbyn can see the future when her skin is cut - a gift that feels more like a curse. Meg's Controller keeps her enslaved so he can have full access to her visions. But when she escapes, the only safe place Meg can hide is at the Lakeside Courtyard - a business district operated by the Others.

Shape-shifter Simon Wolfgard is reluctant to hire the stranger who inquires about the Human Liaison job. First, he senses she's keeping a secret, and second, she doesn't smell like human prey. Yet a stronger instinct propels him to give Meg a job. And when he learns the truth about Meg and that she's wanted by the government, he'll have to decide whether she's worth the fight between humans and the Others that will surely follow.
