{Bookish} Style Files: Matilda

I'm extremely excited about this month's edition of {Bookish} Style Files! Why? Because I get to feature one of my all-time favorite childhood reads in it: Matilda. If I remember correctly, it was the first ever Roald Dahl book I read, and it led to my further obsession with his whimsical, imaginative tales. (And even if it wasn't, I still have a very vivid memory of reading it under the kitchen counter with an orange Popsicle in hand!) Anyway, point is, I get to feature different editions of this book today as part of the Roald Dahl 100 Celebratory Blog Tour, which was put together in honor of the author turning 100 this year.

As I mentioned earlier, Matilda is one of my favorite childhood reads of all time! It really amuses me that the cover design doesn't vary too much from cover to cover (with one notable exception). But I like that they've used a variety of colors! It definitely helped making the processing of choosing dresses for each one a whole lot easier.

This is the exact edition of Matilda that I owned growing up (and that resides comfortably in the library at my parents' house in the Philippines). It is slightly battered from how many times I reread it, but there is no way I'll ever let it go. I thought that this Modcloth "Sailing On Dress" went perfectly with the background and border of this book (and I totally would add it to my own closet).

I've only really accepted that I'll gravitate towards the color pink as an adult (though blue is still my favorite color if I had to pick). I snagged this edition of Matilda for my little library here in the good ol' US of A, just because I needed to have Matilda on my shelves. I like how the colors of the ShopRuche "Chatsworth Avenue Colorblock Dress" go with the background and title font of this edition.

What a bold color! This edition immediately jumped out to me while I was browsing for this post, simply because the color is so striking. I knew I wanted to include it in this post, and I like that the Modcloth "Arrive at a Precision Dress" is pretty bold too.

This particular edition of Matilda is one I would very much love to own. I love that it's blue (that makes it all the more striking, in my opinion) and I adore the fact that it includes key elements from the novel. I thought this Modcloth "Mix Business and Leisure Dress" was a fun mix of all the cover colors, and could not resist using it for this pairing.

I need to get this Modcloth "Deserving of Indulgence" Dress for myself, because it has all of my favorite colors and I just love the floral design! I like that the style sort of mirrors the little thought bubble concept on the cover. This is an edition of Matilda that I now own (thanks to this tour) and I love it so.

I'm quite surprised that they decided to use green for this new hardcover edition of Matilda, but it's growing on me! I love that they kept the illustration of Matilda on the front with all her books. It ties it nicely together with all the other editions. This Forever 21 "Floral Print Cutout Dress" comes in a similar shade!

Also, thanks the lovely folk at Penguin + The Roald Dahl Estate, there is a giveaway! Enter to win a Roald Dahl prize pack via the Rafflecopter form below.
